Mandala
I started by just drawing things on a paper and experimenting with different ideas so that I could get my small amount of creativity going in my head. I knew I wanted to do a design that represented my family from the beginning and how far we have come to where we are now. I started with a circle in the middle that represents me. The next 3 circles made of individual dots represent my husband and his 2 kids. The yellow in the middle represents us together. The individual lines that make up the squares represents each of us making things work so we didn’t feel like we were trapped in a box. Then we added to our family so the gold lines connecting the square to the outer circle represent each family member now that our family has grown and there is a circle of dots in the outer circle to represent each member as well to show that we are united and have joined together as a whole. I chose to do individual dots for the circles and square to show how we have joined together to become one. I used acrylic paints for the dots since I liked the bold look they gave. I also chose to do different colors for each person to show individuality of each of us but the circle represents us as a whole and how far we have grown together. I decided to use water color around the edges to represent water since it represents happiness to me.
